We know well that Apple continues to improve its products with continuous updates, some of which have surprised us and solved frequent issues, while others have been a bit unsettling. So, here’s what you need to know about the upcoming iOS 10 update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
All the new features were revealed by Apple at the annual developer conference.
#New look for Maps and Photos
Finally, the iOS Maps app is getting a makeover, becoming a serious competitor to Google Maps. The interface is more intuitive and smart. The new update will bring smarter changes to the previous app, including the ability to sync with your calendar to understand your habits and provide directions to common destinations.
Not only that, but Apple has always been very attentive to innovations and user-generated content. So, the Maps app is now open to developers: everyone will have the chance to integrate their own services. This means that any type of activity will be bookable directly through the app.
As for the iOS Photos app, two new features will be added: Memories, which automatically collects photos and videos based on the date and location they were taken, and Automatic Recognition, which will identify people, objects, and places, allowing users to categorize and classify their gallery intelligently. A way of thinking that’s increasingly closer to human logic.
#A Smart Watch
Many of us probably used other apps to monitor sleep. With the new update, the iOS watch changes its background and introduces a new Sleep feature, which integrates users’ habits and lifestyle to suggest when to go to sleep and how much time they have to rest. All of this is aimed at improving each of our lives. And then it makes me think of the Internet of Things… another step in that direction?
#Siri gets a makeover
Among the innovations for iOS’s voice assistant, there will be a more “human” voice and the option to choose a male version. Additionally, users will be able to make VoIP calls, send messages, including through WhatsApp and similar instant messaging apps, search for photos, and make payments.
#Keyboard + QuickType
QuickType is introduced, a new suggestion system integrated with Siri. It will assist users in their conversations by offering suggestions for possible responses. An example provided was regarding location: if a friend asks where you are, the system will suggest forwarding your location. Additionally, all languages will be supported.
And now you’re probably wondering: when will iOS 10 be released? We will have to wait until next fall. In the meantime, stay tuned to stay updated and discover many new features!
