When I read this news, I was a bit surprised: I thought TomTom no longer existed. I have two of them, but they’ve long been forgotten, as Google Maps is much more efficient for me. However, it still exists—not only the good old navigator, but now it’s also an incredibly advanced app.
On TomTom Speed Cameras, the app designed for Android, a new feature will soon be available: Jam Ahead Warning, thanks to which the driver will be alerted if there are any unexpected events along the set route. Through visual and audio alerts, the app will provide the opportunity to slow down or stop in time and with complete safety.
As explained by TomTom’s Vice President, Luca Tammaccaro, the company is “working to make the driving experience safer and more relaxed,” and this feature integrated into the app is an example of this, as it becomes not only useful but also essential for avoiding accidents, especially on road sections where visibility is poor, at night, in fog, near curves, and so on.
Any other reason to choose to install the app?
- Precise locations of fixed speed cameras, verified by a team of TomTom moderators.
- Real-time updates on the location of mobile speed cameras from the active community.
- Average speed control function, useful for not exceeding the allowed speed limit.
- Recognizes the road you’re on and only provides relevant alerts.
- Traffic overview, showing the traffic situation around you.
