If you remember an old article, we had found that most of us are now addicted to Facebook. According to an analysis conducted by Apple, it has now emerged that we are also addicted to smartphones!
If I asked you, out of the blue, how many times you unlock your phone each day, would you be able to quantify it?
What’s happening on Facebook? Someone messaged me on WhatsApp, I need to reply! What’s the weather like tomorrow? How do you say this word in English? When is my hairdresser appointment? What are the latest news updates? And so on… I could continue for a long time if I really thought about how often I use my smartphone to clarify doubts and answer questions.
Every time we do this, we inevitably unlock the phone: on average, according to Apple, this action is performed 80 times a day. Along with these data, the company also released another statistic related to the most common unlocking procedure, revealing that 89% of those who have an iPhone device equipped with the Touch ID fingerprint detection system use it.
Clearly, the data refer to iPhone users, but we can assume that the average number of daily unlocks can be extended to anyone who owns a smartphone.
But if this data refers exclusively to the number of times the phone is unlocked, how much would it increase if we also counted all the glances at the screen looking for notifications, not followed by unlocking?
Why do I say we have become addicted to our smartphones? Thinking about it, if we exclude sleeping hours, we can’t go more than fifteen minutes without unlocking the phone.
