Imagine you are sleeping and have set your alarm for a specific time, but your always-connected phone detects traffic on the road to work, so it wakes you up early to ensure you arrive on time.
This is just a small example of what is called the Internet of Things (IoT).
And this is exactly what was discussed at the 29th Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The proliferation of new IoT devices, along with the development of mobile payment services, has created a strong push towards innovation, achieving connectivity wherever we are. All this while considering people’s lifestyles and consumer purchasing habits.
A few years ago, it seemed sufficient to think about remotely controlling objects in our homes, such as lights, alarms, and televisions: today, technological developments seem to far exceed our expectations. This is the case with Samsung’s Hub series refrigerator, presented at CES 2016, which is expected to offer an integrated commerce platform connected to a personal payment system; in this way, the food needs of the entire family can be managed on the go.
Not only Samsung, of course, is striving to simplify our lives, but several manufacturers are moving towards integrated Internet of Things solutions. Additionally, for all shopping enthusiasts, it is worth mentioning the wardrobe that can communicate available combinations or possible online purchase solutions.
E-commerce and the Internet of Things are finally converging into a single path, that of simplifying everyone’s daily habits.
Everything will be tailored to our personal habits and preferences. The future is now.
