Latest Apple news? Like the most famous rock stars, Apple Stores around the world have seen endless lines of eager fans waiting for the release of the brand-new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Alongside the smiles of the few lucky ones who pre-ordered and walked out with their hands full, there is the disappointment of those who had to settle for ordering the sold-out models, such as the new ‘Jet Black’ and ‘Black’ colors, which they can pick up around November.
But what is all the fuss about?
Here’s what YouTuber JerryRigEverything sees as the strengths of the new Apple product, first testing its durability using the Mohs scale.
The new iPhone “attracts attention and resists splashes” and features a highly praised innovative design. In addition to the aluminum body and molded glass panel that define its new shape, it is equipped with a powerful and versatile SoC, a 12-megapixel camera with unmatched resolution, and – an absolute Apple novelty – unlike previous models, it is water-resistant (a crucial and convenient feature for those who aren’t very careful)… which means it can maintain vital functions up to one meter deep for a maximum of 30 minutes.
The home button (operating only via touch) is the “open sesame” of the device, containing a valuable treasure:
- 4.7-inch Retina HD display (and 5.5 inches for the Plus version)
- 25% more brightness
- wide color gamut.
Criticized by Apple lovers, however, is the disappearance of the headphone jack, but it will be re-evaluated around October (in Italy) with the AirPods – wireless earbuds.
And sales? How are they going?
There are no official sales figures for the iPhone 7, but forecasts are positive: revenues will not decline compared to previous Apple models, and in fact, they could increase. This year, another Apple novelty: the Cupertino-based company has decided not to release the revenue percentage after the first launch weekend, going against the trend of previous years. But analysts are already at work!
