The title may sound almost science fiction, we know, but it’s all real: Tap Strap is the new Bluetooth wearable keyboard that turns anything you can touch into a keyboard. If you’re a fan of technology and cutting-edge tools, you won’t be able to live without it.
How it works?
The device is made up of several sensors that analyze finger movements. It can be worn on either the right or left hand: just slide your fingers into it like a glove. A double tap on any surface turns the device on, while it automatically shuts off after three minutes of inactivity.
Bloomberg has shown us how learning works: with a single tap, a vowel is produced, while a combination of taps generates a consonant. Additionally, Tap Strap uses Bluetooth technology, allowing it to interact with various devices and operating systems. An interesting development is its integration with virtual reality devices, although the company hasn’t revealed any further details.
Hologram or projected laser keyboard?
Neither. With each tap, the characters and numbers you type will appear on the screen. For special characters, specific movements must be made, which you can memorize with a bit of practice. Currently, there are several tutorials available online.
What will happen to our QWERTY keyboard?
The new device offers 31 possible taps, with 99% accuracy and a well-designed predictive typing software. It could replace the keyboard we all know, but we wonder if people will be hesitant to learn the different combinations. Tap Systems claims their keyboard will become a valid alternative to voice control systems, without compromising privacy. The potential is there.
How is it charged?
Tap Strap charges via USB cable and takes about 3 hours for a full charge. With one charge, it can be used for up to 4 consecutive hours, which extends to 72 hours in standby.
The project is currently in beta testing, and we can’t wait to try it. Who knows, we might even get it as a Christmas gift… Stay updated with LunaPost for many more exciting news!
