Directly from Facebook‘s Newsroom, we hear about some changes: the composition of the news feed is undergoing a new update and renewal, but perhaps this news will be a bit tough for businesses. Let’s see why.
Starting from June 29, Facebook will prioritize content posted by friends and family, placing it at the top of each user’s feed. This change, according to the engineers, could impact how users share and interact with their contacts. Previously, users had to manually adjust these preferences for each contact using the “follow” and “see first” actions, but now it will be automatically managed by the algorithm. This revolution aims to enhance the user experience on the social platform.
Adam Mosseri, the Vice President in charge of Product Management and managing the News Feed, announced this change:
Facebook was built with the idea of connecting people with friends and family. This principle still governs the News Feed. Our priority is to guide users toward the people, places, and things they want to connect with, starting with friends..
This change also stems from feedback and criticism from the Facebook community.
Those who previously interacted more with posts from their close contacts should notice no difference. However, users who primarily used the social network to share posts from news outlets and official pages may see that such content appears further down the wall.
Businesses and companies, which use Facebook as a tool for business and marketing, will need to deal with a likely decrease in interactions due to the reduced visibility of their posts. Therefore, we recommend alternating regular scheduling with the publication of content that engages and entertains the target audience, so it can be shared and re-shared by users.
Once again, companies will have to adapt and ride the wave of changes Facebook decides to implement, turning it into a new strength. We embrace the challenge!
